In this evening's Vic Super Slam matches, the Bombers, Kangaroos and Dogs were victorious in the Renegades Pool and the Swans, Saints and True Blues won in the Stars Pool. The True Blues and the Saints sit at the top of the Stars Pool, the Blues are on top in the Renegades Pool, three clear of Uni.
The Cats' finals hopes took a tumble after folding at Windy Hill for a miserable 57. Spinners James Seymour (3/8) and Liam Bowe (3/7) did most of the damage. The Bombers (2/60) took just 6.5 overs to secure the victory.
The Kangaroos set up a good chase, plundering Uni to the extent of 3/179 at University. Sunam Gautam (65* off 47 balls, 5 fours, 1 six) and Warwickshire's Andrew Umeed (58 off 35, 3 fours, 3 sixes) set the pace. Uni's reply, despite brave innings from Tom Rogers (62 off 43, 7 fours, 2 sixes) and Yousaf Iqbal (36), fell 20 runs short.
The Dogs (6/141) throttled the Dragons, who finished 17 runs shy.
In the Stars' Pool the Swans recovered well to post 6/169 against the Hawks at Casey Fields. Michael Wallace (69* off 57) and Lachlan Sperling (50 off 28) top-scored. In reply the Hawks fell short at 7/140. Ramneet Dhindsa (53 off 28) did best for the Hawks.
True Blues and the Rams played out the thriller of the night at Toorak Park. The home side were dismissed for 156; the Rams in reply fell two runs short. Needing three to win off the last ball, Tom Stray was stumped off Carl Sandri for 26 and the True Blues won.
Saints held out the Tigers at Harry Trott Oval, winning by 29 runs. Saints' stars were Lachie Holmes (62 off 50) and spinners Michael Beer (3/28) and Todd Murphy (4/17).
